Your own report forms
A template is the report form your technicians fill in and your clients receive. In NDT Intact you make and change your own on a page that looks exactly as the report will print. Owners and admins design templates; everyone uses them.
Four ways to start
On Templates, choose New template, then start from:
- Your own form. Upload the Word, Excel or PDF form you use today, or a photograph of a printed one. If AI is switched on for your company, it reads the form and opens a draft with its sections, fields and tables, for you to check against your form. Or choose Build it by hand, looking at it: a blank page opens, with your form beside it. Either way your form stays beside the page until you publish.
- A blank page. It already has what every report needs: your logo, the form's name and the report number at the top of each page, the signatures and the verification QR code, and the page number at the foot.
- A copy of one of ours. Our templates cover welds by every common method, thickness and corrosion, coatings, pressure tests and more. Copy one, change what you need, and it becomes yours.
- A copy of one of yours, or the next version of one of your templates (Change it on the template).
A draft you leave is kept under In progress on the Templates page, and opens where you left it. Everything is saved as you go.
The page
The page in the middle is your report as it prints, at your paper size. Click anything on it to change it on the right:
- Fields. Add them from the list on the left by clicking or dragging. A new field asks for its name in English first: that name gives the field its permanent key, so changing the words later never loses what reports have stored. Pick a word from the glossary and the label reads in every language your reports use; or write your own words, in each language.
- Rows. Put fields side by side and drag the line between them to share the width. Drag a block's lower edge to make room for long text or a sketch.
- Tables. Start from a blank table, or from the tables the weld tracker, thickness trending and your acceptance limits read: they come with the columns those need.
- Units. A number shows its unit: millimetres, inches, degrees, MPa or psi, and more. Companies on Letter paper are offered US units first.
- The header and footer print on every page. Add, remove or resize them from The page on the right.
- Report information. The report number, dates, client, project, asset, the signatures and the QR code go where they belong, from the list on the left. Parts a report has once are greyed once placed.
- Headings, standing text, pictures, lines, space and page breaks go anywhere on the page. A picture is your logo or one you upload: PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to a megabyte.
- Style: lines or boxes, headings underlined or on a bar, labels above or beside values, spacing, and your colour for rules and bars.
Switch to Form to see the form as your technicians will fill it in, and to Print to see it printed with sample values, in each of your report languages.
Problems before publishing
Below the page, NDT Intact lists what stands in the way of publishing, such as a field without a name in English, a section with nothing to fill in, or a part every report needs that was taken off. Click one to go to it. Warnings, such as long text in a narrow column, never stop you.
Taking off a field that something reads (your clients' requests, the weld tracker, thickness trending, your acceptance limits) asks first and says what. Undo brings anything back.
Publishing
Publish makes the next version of the template. New reports can use it at once; reports already started keep the version they were started on, so nothing printed changes. A form read by AI is only a draft until you publish it, and publishing records that you checked it.
To start new reports of a method from your template, open the menu beside it on the Templates page and choose to make it the default for its method.
