The desktop app, and backups to your computer

The desktop app opens every app of the family your company holds in one window, signed in once, and keeps a copy of your company's records and files on your own computer on a schedule. It runs on a Mac today; Windows follows. It changes nothing in how NDT Intact works: each app runs inside it exactly as in the browser.

Getting it

Download it from the family's site, from Desktop app in your menu at the top of any page. Open the installer and drag the app into Applications. The first time, the app shows the family's sign-in page: sign in as you do on the web, with your second factor where your company requires one. From then on it stays signed in, and the computer appears among the devices on your account page in NDT Intact, where you can remove it at any time.

Every app in one window

The sidebar lists your organisations and the apps each holds. Click an app and it opens beside the sidebar, signed in through the family's account without another sign-in. Each app stays open as you switch between them. A link to another site opens in your browser.

Backups to your computer

Backups in the sidebar lists the companies where you are an owner or admin, and under each company the apps it holds. Each app is backed up on its own, with its own schedule and its own folder. An app that does not offer backups to your computer yet says so, and so does a company whose plan does not include them. For each app:

• Switch it on, choose how often from what the company's plan allows (weekly on every plan, daily or hourly on paid plans), and choose a folder. The app proposes one in your Documents, a folder per company with a folder per app inside it.
• Runs happen on that schedule while the computer is awake. A run missed while it slept starts a few minutes after it wakes. Back up now runs one at once, from the page or from the menu bar icon.
• Each run fetches the app's records for the company as a ZIP, kept under records/, and every file new or changed since the last run under files/, arranged as in the app (in NDT Intact, by project and folder). Every file is checked against its fingerprint. The copy's own MANIFEST.json lists each file with its SHA-256, and a README.txt explains the layout.
• A file removed in NDT Intact stays in the copy and is marked in the manifest. A file NDT Intact set aside as infected is removed from the copy.
• Every run is on the company's record: owners and admins see each device's last run on Settings > Data, and the dashboard says when a run did not complete.
• Check the copy reads every file on disk against the manifest and tells you what is missing or has changed on disk, without touching anything.

The copy is plain files and needs no software of ours to read. The app does not encrypt it: protect the disk, for example with FileVault on a Mac.

Signing out and updates

Settings has Sign out, which ends the family session, clears every app's cookies in the window and removes the computer from your devices. It also has Open at login, so the schedule runs from the moment you sign in to your Mac, and Check for updates. Updates download quietly and install when you quit the app.
