Finding your way around

Everything in NDT Intact hangs on one line: a client has projects, a project inspects assets, an asset has welds and TMLs, and reports, requests and files belong to a project and, where it matters, to one of its assets. Once you know that line, every page is a step along it, and the sidebar, the breadcrumbs and Jump to… take you up and down it.
How the app is organised
The sidebar has three groups.
- Work is the work itself: Dashboard, Messages, Clients and projects (every project, asset, weld, report and file lives under here), Report register (every report number the company has given, from every project at once), Requests (what clients and staff have asked to have inspected, from every project at once), Equipment, Personnel, Templates (your report forms) and Documents (your procedures, standards and technique sheets).
- Operations appears only while the Operations module is on: your day, jobs, the daily board, hours and money. See the Operations module.
- Organisation is who works here and how the company is set up: Team, Activity (the company's log of what was done, by whom, when) and Settings.
At the top of the sidebar is the organisation switcher, for people who belong to more than one company. At the foot is your own menu: your account, your security, your language, light or dark, Help, What's new and signing out.
The line from client to weld
- A client is a company that receives your reports. Its page lists its projects and the people of theirs who may sign in to the portal.
- A project is a job for a client: a turnaround, a fabrication contract, a survey. Everything you do for that job is in it.
- An asset is a thing the project inspects: a vessel, a tank, a line, an exchanger, a structure. A small project may have none, and then reports and welds belong to the project itself.
- A weld or a TML (a thickness measurement location) is the unit the tracker and the thickness trend follow. The app calls both a joint where it means either.
- A report is written for a project, usually for one of its assets, and often for a request or a line of the scope of work. Its number is given once and never changes.
- A request is what a client (or a colleague) asked to have inspected: it names the items, and the report written for it answers it.
The breadcrumbs at the top of every page show this line as you go down it: Clients and projects › Caspian Refining › Unit 400 turnaround › Tracker › N2. Click any step to go back up.
Where to find things
- A report: the project's Overview tab lists its reports; the Report register lists every number of the company, filtered by client, project, method, status and year; Jump to… finds a report by its number.
- What the client asked for: the project's Scope of work tab, and the same lines on each asset's page.
- A weld or a TML: the project's Tracker tab, filtered by asset, status and kind; or Jump to… by its identifier. Every list's filters apply as you change them.
- A request: Requests in the sidebar for every project, with Raise a request that asks which project first; or the project's Requests tab for its own.
- A file: the project's Files tab; an asset has its own folder with a folder per method. The company's own procedures and standards are under Documents, not under a project.
- Who did what: Activity for the company; a report's own page shows its timeline (comments, acceptance, reviews, issue); a weld's page shows its history.
- Who may do what: Team. Certificates are under Personnel: Team is about access, Personnel is about qualifications.
The project page
A project opens on its Overview: the assets with how far each has got, the reports, the requests, the details (client, office, location, report languages, review policy) and a card called In this project that is the map of the rest, with counts. Across the top are the five tabs of every day, and More for the rest:
- Overview: assets, reports, requests, details.
- Scope of work: what each asset has to have examined, and how far it has got. See the scope of work.
- Tracker: every weld and TML with its status. See the tracker.
- Files: folders, uploads, sharing with the client. See files and sharing.
- Requests: the project's own inspection requests, with Raise a request. See inspection requests.
- More: Drawings (isometrics and general arrangements with a pin per weld), Welders (the project's welders and their repair rates), Thickness (the TMLs with their corrosion rates and remaining life, see thickness trending), Sheets (plain tables for anything the tracker does not cover) and Handover dossiers (the project's data book, built in one action, see the handover dossier). When one of them is open, the tab reads its name.
The one orange button on the project page, Start a report, is the main thing to do there. It is shown to technicians; see below if you do not see it.
The asset's page and the weld's page
The project's Scope of work tab is the overview: every asset's lines at a glance, and it says so at the top. The asset's page is for doing: the same lines, each with Mark inspected and Start report, so a technician works from one place. Click an asset's tag or name anywhere to reach its page.
A weld's page has its details, a card called What the scope of work asks, with the marks and a Start report button, its history of inspections and repairs, the reports that cover it, its welders, its scans and files, and the drawings it is pinned on. Record a repair in its header is how a repaired weld gets back in the queue for re-inspection.
Jump to anything
Jump to… at the top of every page (Ctrl K, or ⌘K on a Mac) finds a section, a setting, a help topic, or a record: a report by its number or a word in it, a project, a client, a weld by its identifier, a piece of equipment by its serial, a person. Type part of the name and press Enter.
Starting a report: six doors, one dialog
A report can be started from the project page, from a line of an asset's scope of work, from a weld's page, from a request's page, from a job or work item of the Operations module, and from the dashboard. They all open the same dialog; the difference is what is filled in for you. From a scope line the welds marked inspected, the stage, the procedure and the acceptance criteria are filled in; from a request its welds, welders, sizes and facts; from a job its kit. See writing a report.
Why the same weld has several words
A weld's header says Not inspected while the same row says "inspected in the field, report owed" under it, or a line of the scope says In progress while no report exists yet. What do these mean? beside the tracker's counts and on the scope opens a legend of that list. These are different records: what issued reports say (the tracker's status), what the client asked for and how far it has got (the scope's state), what a technician saw in the field today (a mark), and where a report is in its life (its status). What the statuses mean sets out each list, what each word comes from, and how to read them side by side.
Copying what you have
A new job like the last one starts from a copy: Duplicate project in a project's "⋯" menu (its settings, and its assets with their scope if you tick it), Duplicate asset in an asset's menu (into this project or another, with its scope if you tick it), and Start a report like this one in a report's menu (the setup and texts, the results left empty). Templates have Copy it, and a scope of work Copy to other assets. A copy is always a new record; nothing of the original's results comes along.
If a button is missing
- Start a report or Mark inspected is not there, and a yellow note says the next step needs the Technician role: you are an owner, admin or reviewer without it. An owner or admin presses Make me a technician on that note, or ticks Technician for someone else on the Team page, and the buttons appear.
- The Operations group is missing from the sidebar: the module is off, or your plan does not include it. An owner switches it on under Settings, Operations.
- AI drafts are not available to your organisation yet: AI is given to a company by the platform, and then an owner switches it on under Settings, AI. See AI.
- The client cannot see the tracker: it is not released yet. On the project's Tracker tab, Show to the client.
- A setting is greyed or absent: some settings are for owners only (billing, data and region) and some for owners and admins. See team and roles.
Getting help
The question mark at the top of every page opens this help on the topic of the page you are on, with every other topic below it and a search over all of them. The same topics are on the product's website, to read before signing in or to send to a colleague. Write to support in your menu opens an email to us; What's new lists what has changed.
