AI drafts, and who confirms them
Topik ini belum tersedia dalam bahasa Anda; teks bahasa Inggris ditampilkan.
In NDT Intact, AI drafts work for a person to check: the free text of a report in its other languages, and what a document says, such as a client's request, an equipment list, your own report form or a scope of work. Nothing an AI drafts counts until a person confirms it, and whoever confirms it is recorded. AI works only once your company has switched it on, and only on what someone asks it to read.
What AI does, and where
- Translation drafts in a report. In the editor, under In the other languages, AI drafts the free text still missing in a report language, with the NDT glossary as its terminology; see writing a report.
- A request from a document. On the request form, staff upload or paste a client's request (an email, a PDF, a Word or Excel file), and client users upload theirs in the portal; AI proposes the request with its methods, items, welders, sizes, dates and the client's references; see inspection requests.
- An equipment list or a calibration certificate. Under Equipment, AI reads each instrument and its calibration for the register; see equipment and personnel.
- Your own report form. On Templates, New template, Your own form: AI reads a Word, Excel or PDF form, or a photograph of one, into a draft on the designer's page, with your form beside it; see your own report forms.
- A scope of work. On an asset or a project, AI reads the client's inspection plan, NDE table, email or weld list into items and the inspections each needs; see scope of work.
- A worklist's columns, with the Operations module: on a job's worklist import, AI proposes which column is which; see operations.
The rule: a person confirms
AI never publishes on its own.
- A reading is a draft until a person confirms it: a request is raised, an instrument entered, a template published, a scope saved or a worklist imported only when someone chooses to, and that person is on record as having confirmed it.
- A report cannot be issued while any of its free text is still a Machine draft. Each one waits for a person to confirm or edit it.
- Wherever a proposal is shown, the page says AI can make mistakes: what it read may be wrong, missing or made up. Saving confirms that it is correct.
Switching it on
AI works for a company when three things are true:
- The platform offers it. While it does not, Settings, AI says that AI is not available at the moment, and nothing is sent.
- The platform has given your company access. Until then, pages say AI drafts are not available to your organisation yet (or, for documents, Reading documents with AI is not available to your organisation yet), and Settings, AI says that NDT Intact makes it available company by company. Ask us for it through Write to support in your menu.
- An owner has switched it on: in Settings, AI, tick Allow AI drafts and Save. Owners and admins see the page; only an owner changes the switch. While it is off, pages say AI drafts are switched off for this organisation, with a link to the settings for an owner.
Switching it off also stops drafts that are still waiting to be made. The switch is written to the activity log.
What is sent, and to whom
While AI is on, what a person asks AI to work on is sent to the company that runs the AI: text to be translated, together with the NDT glossary, and documents to be read. Nothing is sent while AI is off, and nothing is sent unless someone asks. Settings, AI names who receives the data under What is sent, and to whom; where NDT Intact runs its own AI server, the page says that nothing goes to an outside AI company. The same is stated on the security page of the website. NDT Intact keeps a record of each request's purpose and size, never its text.
The monthly allowance
Each company has an allowance of AI tokens a month: the plan's, or one set for the company. A token is about three quarters of a word, read or written. Settings, AI shows how much of the month's allowance has been used. Once it is spent, nothing more is sent until the first of next month: a translation or a reading asked for then fails, saying the allowance is used up, and a reading that had already started finishes. Write to us if you need more.
Translation drafts in a report
With AI on, Draft the missing Russian text (or whichever language) in a draft report writes a draft for every free text with nothing in that language yet; texts already written or changed meanwhile are left alone. Each draft is marked Machine draft. Read it against the authoritative text, then Confirm as it stands or edit it, which makes it Confirmed. Drafting can take a minute, and only a draft report takes drafts.
Reading a document
On the pages that read documents:
- Choose a document: PDF, Word, Excel, OpenDocument, an image, CSV or text, within the sizes the page names. For an email or a message, choose Pasted text instead and paste it as it is; it is kept as a text file beside what AI reads from it.
- Read this document. The page says Reading the document… This can take a minute and follows by itself; you can leave it and come back.
- Check the proposal against the document, correct it, and confirm it with the page's own button: raise the request, enter the instruments, publish the template, save the scope, import the worklist.
The document is kept with the result, so the person who confirms can compare the two; on the request form and in the designer it is shown beside the proposal. On the request form you can also Attach as it is and fill the form in yourself, with the document kept with the request; without AI, that is the only way.
A reading left unfinished is never lost. Each upload page lists under Waiting for you the documents Being read, Waiting for review or, for a report form, Waiting in the designer, with who uploaded each and when, and those whose Reading failed. Open one to carry on; Read it again replaces what was read before; Set it aside enters nothing and keeps the document on record. Requests show each person their own readings.
Your clients and AI
A client user who raises a request in your portal can upload the request document too. It is read with your company's AI switch and allowance, and the client checks the proposal in the form and raises the request themselves, as your staff would; with AI off, the client attaches the document as it is and fills the form in. Nothing else of the portal uses AI, and a client never sees a translation draft: the report they receive is issued only once every text is confirmed.
What to check before confirming
Compare the proposal with the document itself before you save:
- Numbers, sizes and units: a thickness written in inches must not arrive as millimetres, and a figure must not be rounded.
- Identifiers: weld and TML numbers, line and drawing numbers, revision letters, welders' stamps, serial numbers and certificate numbers.
- Dates: the date needed, calibration and expiry dates, and the dates welds were made.
- The asset, the project and the method: a reading names an asset by its tag; check it is the right one, and that a method of your own is what you meant.
- What is missing: a row of a table, an item, a question's answer. Rows that need a correction are marked, and the page says Some rows need a correction; they are marked.
- What was made up: a value the document does not give should be left empty, not guessed.
When a reading fails
The page says why, in words, for example: the month's allowance is used up; AI was switched off before the document was read; the AI service could not be reached, so try again in a few minutes; the answer was cut off, so split the document; the document could not be opened, so save it as PDF; the AI declined, or refused a document with too many pages. A failed reading stays listed under Waiting for you until it is read again or set aside.
