What the statuses mean
Ce sujet n’est pas encore disponible dans votre langue ; le texte anglais est affiché.
A weld can be Not inspected in the tracker, In progress on its line of the scope of work and Rejected in the field, all at once, and all three are right. The tracker now says the field's word beside the record, and What do these mean? on the tracker and the scope opens a legend of each list; this page is the long form. They are different records of different things: what issued reports say, what the client asked for and how far it has got, what a technician saw on site today, and where a report is in its life. This page sets out each list of words, what each word comes from, and how to read them side by side.
One weld, four lists of words
- The tracker's status is what the issued reports say about a weld, plus any repair recorded by hand. It changes only when a report is issued, withdrawn or revised, or a repair is recorded. The client sees it once the tracker is released.
- The scope's state is how far a line of the scope of work has got: how many of the welds it asks for have been examined and found sound, under the method and the stage the line names. It is worked out from the tracker's events and from the marks, never typed.
- A mark from the field is what a technician says before any report exists: in progress, inspected, and what was found. Staff only. A mark is never a result: it counts as examined, never as met, and the issued report takes it away.
- A report's status is where the report is in its life, from draft to issued, and what became of it afterwards.
The same English word can appear in two lists and mean two things: Inspected in the tracker is an event an issued report wrote; Inspected on a weld's page under "In the field" is a mark. The list a word is in tells you which record it belongs to.
Welds in the tracker
The Tracker tab, the counts above it, the badge in a weld's header and the pins on a drawing all use this list. It comes from the issued reports and from repairs recorded on the weld's page, and it is judged per method: a rejection by one method stands until that method inspects the weld again.
- Not inspected: no issued report covers this weld yet. Marks from the field do not change this: the weld stays "Not inspected" until a report is issued.
- Requested: an open request names the weld and no report has been issued for it since.
- Inspected: an issued report covers the weld but gives no accept or reject the app can read: a TML (the thickness readings are the result), or a result in the company's own disposition codes.
- Accepted: the latest issued report under the method that last judged the weld accepted it.
- Repair required: an issued report rejected the weld, and no repair has been recorded since. The count above the tracker says how many welds stand here.
- Repaired, awaiting re-inspection: a repair was recorded on the weld's page (Record a repair) and the method that rejected it has not inspected it again yet. The re-inspection is a new report with a new number, never a revision.
A weld that needs several methods is judged per method. Accepted by MT after heat treatment and rejected by UT means Repair required, and the UT re-inspection clears it; the MT result stands. See the tracker for what writes each event.
A weld's history
A weld's page lists every event with its method, stage, date and report: Inspection requested, Inspected, Accepted, Rejected: repair required, Repaired. A revision of a report stamps the events of the report it replaces as superseded and writes fresh ones; a withdrawn report's events are stamped the same way with nothing in their place. The status above is always worked out from the events that stand today, so a withdrawal can put a weld back to Not inspected.
Lines of the scope of work
The project's Scope of work tab and each asset's page show, for every line (one inspection of one item: the method or methods, how much, the stage), one of these states. Nothing here is typed; it is worked out from the issued reports and the marks, and the client sees it from issued reports only.
- Outstanding: nothing has happened for this line yet, or less has been met than it asks for and nothing is under way.
- Requested: an open request calls this line off. The request's page shows it.
- In progress: a technician has marked some of the line's welds in progress or inspected, or a quantity done so far, and the line's reports are not issued yet. The line shows "Inspected 2 of 3 (67%)" and "Reported 0 of 3": the first counts marks, the second counts issued reports.
- Awaiting report: everything the line asks for is marked inspected in the field, and the report that will say so is not issued yet. The company's view only.
- Repair required: an issued report rejected a weld of this line under its method, and the weld has not been found sound since.
- Done: the number of welds the line asks for have been examined under its method and stage, with nothing standing against them; or, for a line without welds, a report linked to it has been issued and says it is complete.
- Closed: a person closed the line with a reason, with work outstanding. It can be opened again.
Under a line, each weld it lists has a word of its own: Outstanding, Reported (an issued report covers it without a readable accept or reject), Accepted, Rejected, Repaired, to be re-inspected. These come from the same events as the tracker, narrowed to the line's method and stage.
Marks from the field
On a weld's page, on a line of the scope, on a request's items and from the tracker's list, a technician marks what is happening before any report exists. The choices are Not started, In progress, Inspected, Accepted and Rejected; a rejection takes the kind of defect, a note and photos. One mark per weld per method at a stage.
Where the marks show:
- On the weld's page, under "In the field", with who marked it and when.
- In the tracker's Status column, under the record's badge: "inspected in the field, report owed" or "rejected in the field, report owed"; and in the filter Inspected, awaiting report.
- On the scope line as In progress with a percentage, or Awaiting report once everything is marked.
- In lists as Inspected, awaiting report, Accepted in the field, awaiting report or Rejected in the field, awaiting report.
What a mark does: it makes the line In progress, it counts as examined for the percentage, and the report started from the line or the request begins with the welds marked and the dispositions, defects and photos the field gave. What a mark never does: it never makes a weld Accepted or Repair required in the tracker, it never counts a line as Done, and the client never sees it. The issued report that covers the weld under the method takes the mark away.
So Not inspected with "rejected in the field, report owed" under it on one tracker row reads: no issued report covers this weld; a technician has marked it inspected and found a defect; the report is still to be written. The row's Scope column counts the inspections the scope asks of the weld and how many are met: "0 of 1 inspection met". See the scope of work.
Reports
- Draft: being written. A draft has a draft reference such as DRAFT-7K2M and gets its number when it leaves draft (or as soon as it is started, if the company chooses so).
- In review: sent for review and waiting for a reviewer. A reviewer who returns it with comments puts it back to Draft; "returned" is not a status, the editor shows "returned by" from the latest review.
- Issued: signed and issued: the data is locked, the PDF editions are printed with their fingerprints and the QR code, the tracker's events and thickness readings are written, the client is told.
- Superseded: a newer revision of the same number has been issued. The old revision stays on record and on the verification page, marked superseded.
- Withdrawn: issued in error and retracted, with a reason, by an owner or admin. The whole number is withdrawn; its events in the tracker are stamped superseded; the verification page says withdrawn.
- Void: a numbered report cancelled before issue, with a reason. It stays in the report register so every number is accounted for.
A re-inspection after repair is a new report with a new number. A revision corrects the same inspection and keeps the number. See issuing a report.
Requests
- Open: raised and not taken up yet.
- In progress: a report has been started for it, or it has been taken up by a job.
- Done: the reports that answer it are issued; each item shows its result from them.
- Declined: the company declined it, with a note the client sees.
A request from the company's website is first New under Requests, From your website, and becomes a request when accepted or is declined. See inspection requests.
Reading them together
- A weld's header says Not inspected and its scope card shows Rejected with a defect, and the tracker's row says "rejected in the field, report owed": the technician found something today; no report says so yet. Next step: Start report from the weld or the line; once issued, the header says Repair required and the mark is gone.
- A line says Done but the tracker shows one of its welds Repair required: the rejection came under another method or another stage than the line's. Look at the weld's history for the method.
- A line says In progress at 67% and the asset's page says 0 of 7 done: marks count towards the percentage, only issued reports count towards "done".
- The tracker shows Accepted on a weld that still owes PAUT and TOFD: the acceptance is MT's. The tracker's Scope column says "1 of 3 inspections met" for that reason, and the scope line for PAUT is still Outstanding.
- A report is Issued but the weld is Not inspected: the report's weld results table does not list this weld, or names it with another identifier. Identifiers are matched case, spacing and punctuation aside ("LS-3" is "LS 3"), but "LS3" is another weld.
Jobs, hours and timesheets
With the Operations module on, a job is Planned, Scheduled, In progress, On hold, Complete or Cancelled; its work items are Not started, In progress, Blocked, Complete or Cancelled; a person's hours are Draft, Submitted or Approved, and returned hours go back to draft with the reason; a timesheet is Draft, Sent, Signed, Disputed, Superseded or Withdrawn, and a signed one is frozen like an issued report. See the Operations module.
Documents and their revisions
A document of the library has revisions, each Draft, Approved or Discarded; only the approved revision in effect is read. A document itself is in use, waiting for approval, due for review or withdrawn. See the document library.
